During a professional development training session, Clark County music teacher Tim Wiegand demonstrates a music lesson where the students read the book (Sugaropolis), learn a song he composed, then create frozen statues in a group to represent parts of the story. During the second part of the song, the statues come alive and sing about what their character is thinking in that moment. This is a creative blend combining the music department and reading instruction. The teachers are going to love experiencing this lesson which is fun and hands-on, while really benefiting reading comprehension and retention.
